Big Day

All 3 of us got out of the house today! Evie and I had our 2 week check ups with our doctors. I hadn't been out since coming home from the hospital so it was nice to get out and enjoy the sunshine. Evie just slept most of the afternoon.

Evie's appointment was first. She is doing great. She now weighs 7lbs 8.5oz and is 20 3/4 inches. The doctor said to keep doing what we've been doing. We then grabbed some lunch at Raising Cane's...oh, it tasted so good! Our next visit was at the hospital to get her 2nd PKU test. She did fine and wasn't very fussy. We then walked over to my doctor's office. The staff oohed and aahed over Evie. My vitals are good, weight is already close to pre-pregnancy (I only gained about 17 lbs), and my incision is healing very well.

So needless to say, I was pretty wiped out by the time we got home. I am so happy to report that we are all doing well and feeling so blessed. God is good!

1 week old

Evie is already such a joy to us. I am amazed how God has blessed us with a beautiful, healthy baby girl. She is doing great with learning a feeding and sleeping schedule. We are enjoying watching her grow every day. We appreciate your prayers, texts, emails and phone calls. They are healing and comforting. We love you all!

Here are some pics Mat took in the last couple of days...

Yes, she has her very own pair of Vans.

Some tummy time.

This is her new friend, Prop Bear. She's so small that we have to prop her up in the Boppy with a friend.

I love how she holds her hands.

Nursery Pics

The nursery is basically done. I still need to put up the curtain panels (Mom is bringing them), hang Mat's oil painting after it gets framed (Dad is making a frame), and I need to get a little table to put next to the rocking chair. I love the colors. Mat did a fantastic job painting the walls and the furniture. Thank you honey!

My mom made the bedskirt. I think it is just perfect!

C-section Rescheduled

My doctor's office just called and has had to reschedule the c-section for Thursday, April 16 at 7:30am. We are going to meet Peanut one day sooner!

I have now started my maternity leave which was a very good idea. I plan to rest as much as possible while getting the few remaining things in order. Mat was sick this past weekend so we haven't completely finished the nursery (walls are bare). As soon as we get that done, I'll post pics of the nursery. I just love the bedskirt that my mom made. It is perfect!

38 weeks today

...and Peanut's head is back under my stomach and is sitting on my bladder. Seems to prefer this position. I haven't tried standing on my head yet.

I had a check up on Wednesday. No change other than my doctor has scheduled me for a c-section on April 17. I have one more check up next week and we continue to pray that Peanut will head on down. I am feeling some contractions but nothing regular.

I feel fine other than having a cold and feeling like Peanut is going to fall out. We are so excited to meet him/her! I am nervous about being cut open and having to recover from surgery. But, a lot of my sweet friends who have been through this have been very supportive and reassuring. Thank you.

We'll keep you posted!

It didn't quite work

So we got to the hospital at 7am on Friday. They got me all hooked up to the monitors, took some blood, gave me an IV, etc. This was good practice for me when Peanut comes for real since I've never even been admitted to a hospital. It wasn't too bad. It was neat to watch the monitor of Peanut's heartbeat and my contractions. I had a few big ones but never even felt them.

My doctor came in around 8:45 and checked Peanut's position...still frank breech. Before we began, Mat prayed with all of us which was very comforting. Next, the doctor squirted a ton of gel all over my belly and with the help of 2 nurses began mashing on my belly to get Peanut to roll backwards, at first. Wow! It was quite painful. Mat was such a good coach reminding me to breathe and encouraging me. The nurses were so sweet too.

Well Peanut did not want to roll backwards after several minutes of trying. So they tried to roll it forward. This worked a little better. The head started out at the 10:00 position and made it to the 2:00 position. They stopped trying after 10 minutes or so. The funny thing was that Peanut was not phased by all the pushing one bit...no changes in the heart rate.

They kept me there another hour to monitor the two of us and everything was fine. My abdomen is quite sore and I feel pretty tired. I've been able to feel the contractions today, although still sporadic.

Thanks to everyone for the prayers. It meant a lot to me. I'll keep you posted as things develop. Hopefully not too much longer. Keep praying that Peanut will go ahead and roll forward just a little bit more.
