Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

When it was all said and done, it looks we had 8 inches of snow at our house. It began snowing early morning on Thursday through early morning Friday and did not stop. It was just BEAUTIFUL!

Thursday afternoon: Our truck is covered and the neighbors across the street made a decent snowman.

She was fine with the snow as long as we didn't put her in it.

Last night before going to bed it was still coming down. We ended up losing power for about 4 hours in the middle of the night. It got down to 64 degrees in the house. So we thank God that it came back on because there are alot of people in the metroplex without power right now.

This morning all you can hear is the sound of melting snow falling from the trees and rooftops.

No evidence this morning that we were playing in the front yard yesterday.

See how high it is stacked up on our mailbox.

Can you see it stacked up on the roof?

9 months old

Since the last post, Evie has been doing one new thing after another. It's amazing how quickly she is learning new things. Evie has learned to:

~ crawl
~ clap
~ wave
~ sign "more" and "all done" (but won't do it all the time)
~ chew
(She has had blueberries, banana, green beans, peaches, cheerios, potato, carrots, toast, broccoli and avocado.)

She is now working on pulling up - time to lower the mattress! She smiles all the time and she says "dada" alot more than "mama". She has 6 teeth and loves to chew on everything. She especially likes Mommy's bracelets and necklaces.

At her 9 month check up last week, she measured a petite 16 lbs 12 oz and 27 1/2 inches. Her hair is growing some in the back, but not on top. My Mom can probably confirm this but I think I was bald until at least 12 months.

We are having a great time with our sweet Evie. She makes us smile. Thank you God.

After some jar food, she ate some green beans and toast.

Sorry the video is dark, forgot I only had the lamp on.

Evie's First Christmas

The holidays are over. I'm sad and glad at the same time. It was fun, chaotic, yummy, stressful, etc. We made a quick trip to Victoria for our traditional family Christmas. It is just so good to be at Maw-Maw's house with the family on Christmas Eve. Our immediate family had Christmas on Christmas Eve morning. It was fun to watch Evie and our nephew Austin get into it. Evie loved the paper!

Austin: What do you think of Christmas so far?
Evie: I wish they would stop flashing lights in my face.

Mommy loves that smile.

Kicking back with a good book.

Merry Christmas!

"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:8-11

May the joy of Jesus' birth fill you with hope and peace. 2009 has been a challenge for us in a number of ways. But, God has been faithful and blessed us beyond what we could imagine. We pray that you will experience God's bountiful blessings in 2010.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from The Duszas

And now for your viewing pleasure, Evie's Christmas photos...

Happy Halloween!

On Thursday, they had a fall festival at Evie's school. She got to dress up for Halloween and play some fun games. Quite appropriately Evie was Minnie Mouse. Thank you Izzie for letting her borrow the cute Minnie ears. Evie has very little hair so we had to clip them to a headband which kept sliding off her head. Oh well!

I was so anxious to get the party started!

Hi Mommy!

The first game was to pull a lollipop off the board and the number on the back matched a prize.

I won a Tinkerbell spinning top, but I prefer chewing the box.

Doing the cupcake walk with Daddy.

I didn't get an afternoon nap today so I'm done.

Good night!

6 months old

Evie is a healthy, happy, smiley and "chatty" 6 month old. We are enjoying her so much. At her check up last week, she weighed exactly 14 lbs and is 25 3/4 inches. She is petite.

Evie has been scooting backwards, practicing sitting alone, and saying "da-da". She holds her own bottle, has moved to stage 2 foods, reaches for and grabs objects including Mommy's hair, sucks her thumb (usually when she is tired) and has 4 teeth.

I'm enjoying watching her explore the world around her. She has a lot of facial expressions and it makes me wonder what she is thinking.

Can you see her bottom teeth?

On Saturday morning, we met Uncle Shane, Aunt Whitney, and Austin at a local pumpkin farm. It was a beautiful day!

I fell asleep in the car.

Examining a dried pumpkin vine

Trying to eat the ornamental corn

Trying to eat the hay

The cousins

This cracks me up. Evie spit up and Austin looks like he is grossed out!
Maybe Shane and Whitney got some better shots.
