Merry Christmas!

"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:8-11

May the joy of Jesus' birth fill you with hope and peace. 2009 has been a challenge for us in a number of ways. But, God has been faithful and blessed us beyond what we could imagine. We pray that you will experience God's bountiful blessings in 2010.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from The Duszas

Happy Halloween!

On Thursday, they had a fall festival at Evie's school. She got to dress up for Halloween and play some fun games. Quite appropriately Evie was Minnie Mouse. Thank you Izzie for letting her borrow the cute Minnie ears. Evie has very little hair so we had to clip them to a headband which kept sliding off her head. Oh well!

I was so anxious to get the party started!

Hi Mommy!

The first game was to pull a lollipop off the board and the number on the back matched a prize.

I won a Tinkerbell spinning top, but I prefer chewing the box.

Doing the cupcake walk with Daddy.

I didn't get an afternoon nap today so I'm done.

Good night!

6 months old

Evie is a healthy, happy, smiley and "chatty" 6 month old. We are enjoying her so much. At her check up last week, she weighed exactly 14 lbs and is 25 3/4 inches. She is petite.

Evie has been scooting backwards, practicing sitting alone, and saying "da-da". She holds her own bottle, has moved to stage 2 foods, reaches for and grabs objects including Mommy's hair, sucks her thumb (usually when she is tired) and has 4 teeth.

I'm enjoying watching her explore the world around her. She has a lot of facial expressions and it makes me wonder what she is thinking.

Can you see her bottom teeth?

On Saturday morning, we met Uncle Shane, Aunt Whitney, and Austin at a local pumpkin farm. It was a beautiful day!

I fell asleep in the car.

This cracks me up. Evie spit up and Austin looks like he is grossed out!
Maybe Shane and Whitney got some better shots.

Trying to catch up

We're still alive! I know my postings have been few and far between. I will try to do better. I have lots of pics and some video from when Mat's family was here that I want to post. But for now, I thought I would post a recent clip and pics of Evie. She smiles and talks a lot. She is so much fun!

See how big she smiles when looking up at Daddy...

Crazy month

Yes, I realize I have not posted in a month. It seems like we've been going non-stop. I will post more details soon but here are some highlights since my last post and recent pics of Evie.

  1. We visited family in south Texas while Mat's family was here.
  2. Evie started solids - cereal and fruit.
  3. Mat's family left on September 2.
  4. Mat went back to work and Evie started "school" on September 7.
  5. Our sewer line backed up - moved in with some friends.

Yeah, #5 has not been fun. We are still dealing with it. Hopefully it will all be resolved by Monday. We are so thankful for our sweet friends, the Halls, for taking us in!

I think she was trying to grab the camera in this one.

This was at the park after her Baby Dedication at church.

This was last Saturday playing with Uncle Shane while we watched UT play Wyoming.

4 months old

Evie had her 4 month check up and shots today. Both of us took her this time so we could get the low down on introducing solids to her. Personally, I'm looking forward to it. The doctor was very pleased with her development and told her to stop growing so fast. She said, "You're doing things that some of my 6 month olds won't do." We are very proud of her.

In the last two months she gained almost 2 lbs and grew 2 inches. She is now 12 lbs 15 oz and 24 1/4 inches. Still petite but very strong. She is rolling all over the place. She can grab her toys and put them in her mouth. She likes it when we help her to stand up and is sitting up pretty well with support. She loves to sleep on her tummy and suck her thumb. Evie is very smiley and talkative. She likes to spit bubbles too. Such a joy to be with!

The many faces of Evie...

I know it has been a while since my last post. We have been very busy with some very important visitors. Nanny and Poppy (Mat's parents) arrived from Australia on August 2. Uncle Danny and Cousin Oscar arrived on the 6th. We have a house full! And we're having a ball! Aside from many trips to Walmart (Poppy's favorite store) and visits with our cousins in Richland Hills, the boys have been working very hard on retiling our bathroom. It looks wonderful. I'll post a photo when it is finished. Until then, enjoy these pics of our time together so far.

A Dusza Christmas
